With the genres of magic, fantasy, mystical, etc could all fall under the same category. But what I wanted to distinguish from magical was the fact that you can vividly see the use of magic or spells within the scenes.
In Underling, we have the use of a darker theme to show what the character is preforming. We can see the same thing happening in Star Cross’d Destiny with a darker theme. Not implying that all magical webcomics are dark, but that these two in particular have a dark story within them.
The colors as discussed above are going to be of the darker pallet to help show what is going on. Doing so helps convey the message that is trying to be sent. With lighter magical series, the use of brighter colors or the use of spells that are of good nature would be fitting. In both of these webcomics there’s the use of fog and ambient light to show the mysteriousness of the magic being used. The detail is of not the greatest quality, but since there is a lot going on with the magic, the detail can be something that can be looked over. Both do a great job in there whole series of keeping the theme the same throughout.
